the surprising fact that i discovered during my first year at the university was that quite a bignumber of students were solely motivated by the academic degree they would obtain upongraduation. certainly, i would not go anywhere near so far as to doubt the social and economicvalue that a degree would bring to students in future. however, i deem it too nar row forstudents to maintain this kind of attitude towards their studies.
