in tess of the d’urbervilles, hardy molded a pure, kindhearted image and rather an image brave enough to rebel, to shoulder the responsibility of her action. her unfortuneness was the tragedy of the society, her character and fate. it vividly revealed the persecution towards people after industrial revolution made by the conception of capitalism and traditional moral. following are some of my opinions about the causes to her death.

her character and parentage was part of the cause

in the author’s ideal world, tess was the embodiment of beauty and the incarnation of love .she represents all the merits of the villagers in her hometown: beautiful, pure, kind, simple, charitable and tolerant. to love ,she had no egocentric thoughts and didn’t plan to meet her vain wish by marriage .she standed by he dignity and pursue freedom .hardy made the poor, helpless ,humble country girl as the heroin.despite she committed adultery and murder, hardy still claim she was a “pure girl”. this fully showed the author’s sympathy towards tess. hardy elaborately modeled the image of tess and indignantly describes the depression confronted with tess through her short life.

tess is a young woman who tends to find herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. she is a victim, but she is also, at times, irresponsible. she falls asleep while taking the beehives to market, which ends up killing the family horse, prince she decides to visit the d’urbervilles in trantridge, giving rise to all her future woes, partly out of the guilt and responsibility she feels toward her family. she wants to make good, but in trying to help her family she loses sight of her own safety and her own wants and wishes. she becomes alec’s victim in the forest. she probably should have known not to put herself in such a situation, but she has few other options. here, it seems as though she is destined to rely on others, even when they are unreliable.

tess is also a strong woman throughout the novel. she stands up for herself and refuses to crumble under pressure. she chastises herself for her weakness after her sexual escapade with alec. if we agree with her claim that this indiscretion is a moment of weakness, we probably also feel that such weakness is not unlike that of most human beings. she is hard on herself for letting herself become a victim. at the burial of her child, sorrow , she weeps but collects herself and moves on as a stronger woman. overall, her determined attempts to escape her past primarily reflect her strength.

the man with the red sweater taught him the law of clubs, this was a good beginning. the trading road led him at last to two couriers, who knew how to treat dogs. then the dog team was traded to a three-people family who were seeking good in alaska. but they didnt know how to treat dogs and at last dogs and men were drowned in the water, except buck. he was picked up by a man. and eventually buck was back to the wild—where his ancestors had been.

in my opinion a good novel could make readers cry, yell, etc. i clenched my fist when the family treated the dog team badly, and had a wonderful feeling when the man picked up buck and treated him like his own son. it had feeling, this novel……

读着读着，我的脸火辣辣的，头不由自主的低了下去。与海伦相比，我实在是惭愧。记得那一次，我考试考砸了，被父母骂了一顿，和朋友翻脸了，又被老师责怪。当时，我觉得这个世界好灰好灰，认为自己是世界上最倒霉的人了，甚至想放弃自己，自暴自弃。

despite i"ve not in my childhood yet, i still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. the tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. this summer i"ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. it"s the world-famous fairy-tale by the french author, antoine de st-exupery, the little prince.

as many other fairy-tales, the outline of the little prince is not very complex. i， the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the sahara. in this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the asteroid b612. the little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. in that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

on his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. from these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the sahara, on the earth.

traveling on the earth, the little prince, who sees a garden of five-thousand roses, is overcome with astonishment and sadness, as he considers his rose is unique in the universe before. at that time a fox appears. the fox, who tell the little prince about the meaning of the word tame， becomes his new friend. at the time to say farewell, the fox makes him know that his rose is unique because she is his rose and tamed by him. from that the little prince begins to treasure friendship and be responsible to his rose.

at the anniversary day of his descent of the earth, rejecting the pilot"s advice, he goes back to his own planet by bite of a snake. it"s too far. i can not carry this body with me. it"s too heavy. he said. he tells his friend, the pilot, he must be responsible for his rose, so he has to go back. at the end the author doesn"t tell us the ending directly. maybe it"s more significant for us to imagine, and for more, think over.

one of the important characters is the rose. growing on the planet, she is very beautiful, but her coquetry and vanity suffer the little prince a lot. in spite of they love each other, he soon becomes unhappy. on the time of his departure, he just knows she certainly loves him. the character of the little prince actually represents the children, and their native thoughts and deeds. on the contrary, the inhabitants on the other planets, such as the king, the businessman and the conceited man, they also reflect the defects in the grown-up"s world. the real theme of this fairy-tale with a little sadness, i guess, is the consequence of pure love and friendship in our lives, but not others matters of consequence of the grown-ups.

unbelievable, this little book moved me a lot. i seldom think about the true meaning of love and life before. well, now i can say, with my short sixteen-year"s life experience, it"s like the stars in the sky that lit my heart. the little prince is not only an ordinary fairy-tale for children, but also for grown-ups, and our teenagers. nevertheless, when i read this book, i feel a little sad ndash; about ourselves, whom are losing more and more innocence.

one day ,a gardener who worked for judge took buck out of the house when there were no people in home and sold buck to a dog smuggler in secret .from then on ,buck set foot on his miserable life .he was transferred from one to anther and under a bad condition all day ,he suffered from hunger ,cold ,various harm and pain .sometimes ,buck was beaten black and blue by human being .at the same time ,buck must fight with other dog in order to stay alive ,finally ,buck became very strong and made himself the leader of the whole dog team .life was always going on like this for o while .once during a journey ,buck was nearly dead ,then he met his master jhon thorton .thorton was a perfect person who came to buck ‘s rescue and buck deeply loved him forever .but one day ,thorton was killed by indians ,buck lost his lover and he became nothing then .finally ,buck responded the call of the wild and became a wolf ,lived an early wild life as his ancestors .

buck was very angry after his terrible experience ,he resisted stubbornly and treated the man in red sweater as enemy .(in fact ,the man was ) and was going to fight with him .but the short man of red sweater was more stronger .at the man ‘s club ,buck was almost beaten to death .it was the first time that buck had been hit by a man ,he was greatly frightened .however ,buck was beaten ,not broken ,he had learned an important lesson and would never forget it .in his later life ,when such situation appeared ,buck reacted immediately and got rid of quickly .here we can say that buck was clever but and wise ,he learned quickly from what he had experience and others .that is to say ,buck has some learning spirit ,he could adapt everything rapidly and get less punishment .

buck lived alone and without help ,using his strength and power surviving in a hard and unfriendly environment where only the strong survived .because of this ,buck was proud of himself .so ,his longing for blood became stronger than ever ,he was a killer ,a thing that hunted other animals ,living on the things that lived .but buck was not satisfied ,the animal he killed before were small and weak ,he wanted to challenged himself ,he needed a large strong one ,so the leading moose became his prey .during the battle with the leading moose ,buck took full use of his power and cleverness .for ,buck ,the battle was only an experiment ,but he wanted to know how strong he earth was and what kind of enemy he could not defeat ,the battle gave him an opportunity to fight with a real wild creature .the battle also laid the foundation for buck’s later life .

from the fight with the leading moose ,we could see that buck was completely a successful winner of the primitive life .when fighting ,buck did not attack straightly ,instead ,he used all kinds of methods to make the leading moose exhausted and feared .so ,what the leading moose wanted to do just was escaping ,for buck ,he could defeat the leading moose .meanwhile ,during the fight ,he himself would not hurt badly .
